: Surfing

ALL PADDLING GEAR PROVIDED or bring your own
Specific Environment Level: BCU 3 Star Award or instructor's approval required

The class will be held at the coast in a location with non-dumping surf up to 4 feet. We cover techniques for actively surfing waves, and include topics such as surf etiquette and wave selection. You will practice Eskimo rolling in surf and we will cover special hazards and rescue options in the surf zone. And if conditions we will can cover all of this in an offshore tour!

Surfing will be scheduled a couple of times during the summer and fall. Call to reserve your spot in the next class.

On the water, You Will Need:

- Tennis shoes or river sandals with wool socks or wetsuit booties
- Sunglasses with retention device (i.e. Croakies, Chums, etc)
- Sunscreen (SPF 30), lip balm (SPF 15)
- Sun hat, rain hat, and/or fleece hat
- Synthetic top and bottom (thermal underwear, heavier wt. for cooler weather)
- Rain coat and rain pants
- Nylon shorts and/or swimsuit
- Water bottle (1 quart)
- Towel and change of clothes for ride home
- Lunch and snacks

Optional Gear:
- Camera with film, batteries and dry storage
- Binoculars

Meeting Place/Directions:
This class meets at the Oregon Coast, location to be decided. You will receive detailed instructions and a map with your confirmation packet.
