FOUNDATION LEVEL: Introductory experience required
The ultimate downstream paddle starting at Chinook Landing on the Columbia River and ending up at the Jantzen Beach store dock. Transportation included in this urban adventure. Come paddle down the Columbia River Water Trail following the same route as Lewis & Clark. We can experience a variety of conditions on the Columbia River in which we can practice our paddling skill as we glide down the river towards Portland. A variety of birds and wildlife are often seen as we hop from island to island. The pace of the trip will be based upon the skill level of the group. The length of the trip is 10 miles and includes a break for lunch. (not provided)

Outline: Chinook Landing Tour
Journey up to 10 nautical miles as conditions permit
Obtain coaching on basic strokes, rescues, towing and navigation as desired
On the water, You Will Need:
- Tennis shoes or river sandals with wool socks or wetsuit booties
- Sunglasses with retention device (i.e. Croakies, Chums, etc)
- Sunscreen (SPF 30), lip balm (SPF 15)
- Sun hat, rain hat, and/or fleece hat
- Synthetic top and bottom (thermal underwear, heavier wt. for cooler weather)
- Rain coat and rain pants
- Nylon shorts and/or swimsuit
- Water bottle (1 quart)
- Towel and change of clothes for ride home
- Lunch and snacks
Optional Gear:
- Camera with film, batteries and dry storage
Meeting Place/Directions:
Chinook Landing Tours meet at the Jantzen Beach store in N. Portland. You will receive detailed instructions and a map with your confirmation packet.
