Alder Creek Kayak & Canoe's Jantzen Beach store is open 9am to 6pm Sunday through Thursday and 9am to 7pm on Friday and Saturday. The Boathouse location is open seven days a week from 10am to 6pm. The Bend location is open 7 days a week from 10am to 6pm.

Buying An In-Stock Composite Boat

At Alder Creek Kayak & Canoe we have a great selection of in-stock composite kayaks and canoes from Wilderness Systems, Valley, Necky, NDK, Current Designs, Wenonah and Bell Canoe Works. If you are not finding exactly what you want we are happy to special order a composite boat for you. About one third of the composite boats we sell are special ordered, but before you decide to choose that option, be sure you have considered the advantages of buying an in-stock composite boat.

Composite boats are "hand made by human beings", therefore seldom without a flaw. In addition, because these boats are handmade by craftsmen, no two boats are exactly the same. Each boat will vary slightly in weight. Even like colors vary in hue and texture. These inconsistencies are to be expected in hand made products, but some are easier to live with than others. Damage during packaging & shipping is also a risk. If damage occurred in shipping to the boat sitting in front of you, the boat will have been repaired and if necessary, discounted. If damage occurs during the shipment of a special order boat, the handling of the damage claim is yet to be negotiated. With in-stock boats, you can be the judge of the weight, color and condition of the boat.

In-stock boats will cost you less. The boat you see in the store likely came as part of a quantity purchase with lower shipping costs per boat due to economy of scale. We cover the shipping cost for you on in stock composite boats. Special order composite boats shipped individually cost as much as $300 per boat more. You pay shipping on special order composite boats.

When you purchase any in-stock boats, you get to start paddling right away. Many variables affect the timing of special order composite kayaks and canoes. In-season special orders can take from seven days to four months, depending on color choice, special modifications, warehouse stock, time of year and whether or not a container from over seas has recently shipped. The brands that Alder Creek Kayak & Canoe offer we consider the best manufacturers of boats in the world, but most of them are made in small factories in far-off places. When you special order, you should be prepared to wait for the boat of your dreams.
