Environmental Issues for Paddlers with Neil Schulman
Paddlers care deeply about the environment. Otherwise we wouldn’t be out there in it all the time. Paddlers have a long history of being powerful environmental advocates, from keeping the Grand Canyon from being dammed in the 1960s, to breaching Condit Dam on the White Salmon in 2010. Right now, paddlers also are sitting on a lot more power than we’ve ever had to pass a healthy environment on to our kids. You’ll learn about “current” issues (pun intended) that matter to both sea and river kayakers, and how paddlers can have the strongest voice in a meaningful way.
Neil Schulman (when he’s not photographing) is a founder of the Confluence Environmental Center and Chair of the Multnomah County Chapter of the Oregon League of Conservation Voters.
